At the Port of New Orleans will build asphalt plant

The Port of New Orleans board of commissioners on Thursday approved a lease for Boh Bros. Construction Co. to build a new asphalt plant at the France Road Container Terminal on the Industrial Canal.
Gary LaGrange, the port's president and chief executive officer, described the new plant as a "state-of-the-art facility" and applauded Boh Bros.'s investment.
"Boh Bros. is one of the most prolific construction companies in South Louisiana," he said, adding that the New Orleans-based company built the I-10 Twin Span Bridge. "This is really good news for the area," LaGrange said.
Matthew Gresham, port spokesman, said the plant will receive materials by barge and produce hot mix asphalt, the form typically used for highway traffic pavements.
The new plant, to be located at Container Terminal Berths 3 and 4, will cover about 22 acres of land and include a 13,000 square foot building, along with 725 feet of dock, wharf and adjacent water bottoms, Gresham said.
The board authorized the lease for a primary term of 10 years at an annual rate of $340,015, plus a right to first refusal on up to nine acres of land adjacent to the premises.
LaGrange noted that, as part of the new asphalt plant project, Boh Bros. plans to invest over $1 million to improve the docks along the Container Terminal.
"We're very happy to be doing business with these guys," LaGrange said. This article from google news.
